Bechara is the Group Managing Director of Madison Marcus Law Firm and has over 20 years’ experience as a lawyer specialising in property, commercial and corporate law. Bechara has a broad range of expertise including property, corporate, commercial, building, insolvency and insurance litigation and represents a number of large domestic and international building, financial and insurance companies.
He acts for large and reputable developers and builders in relation to all aspects of land dealings including acquisitions, disposals, off-the-plan selling and strata, local government and planning, leasing, building and construction.
Bechara was the legal advisor on some of New South Wales’ most recent major developments in the suburbs of Belrose, Cronulla, Lane Cove, Blackwattle Bay, Hurstville, Dee Why, Manly Vale, Bondi, Wentworth Point, Drummoyne, Kellyville, Gordon, Rosebery, Waterloo, Lidcombe and Lewisham. The projects included mixed use and high-rise developments with values of up to $1 billion.
Bechara acts as a corporate advisor to many private, public and foreign companies assisting with due diligence, capital raisings, IPO’s, M&A’s, commercial contract disputes and issues relating to reconstruction and insolvency matters.
Bechara provides consulting to private companies as a non-executive director. Bechara is currently the business and legal advisor to the board of Argus Global, Piety THP and FSHD Global Research Foundation.
Bechara is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Property Council of Australia, Urban Development Institute of Australia, the Housing Institute of Australia and the Society of Construction Law Australia.
In 2017, Bechara was named Australia’s leading property law expert by Global Law Experts. Bechara was named a finalist in the Australasian Law Awards in the category of Law Firm Leader of the Year in 2017 and a Finalist for Managing Partner of the Year in the Australian Law Awards in 2016.
